Why standing seam
The difference is what isn't in the roof.
Most metal roofs in Ontario are exposed-fastener panels, thousands of screws driven straight through the surface water runs across, each sealed by a rubber washer that hardens, shrinks and eventually leaks.
Standing seam removes that entire failure mode.

Panels are held by hidden clips beneath a folded seam. No washer to fail, no fastener to back out over forty winters.

Site visit or drone survey
We measure properly and look at the deck. Nobody can price a roof from a description, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Written specification
Gauge, seam type, finish, underlayment, flashing, snow retention, ventilation, warranty and exclusions, in writing, before you commit.

Install and cleanup
Typically three to six days on a residential roof. Full cleanup including a magnet sweep for stray fasteners.

Questions homeowners actually ask
What makes standing seam different from regular metal roofing?
Fasteners. Ordinary "screw-down" or exposed-fastener metal puts thousands of rubber-washered screws straight through the water plane, and every one of those washers eventually hardens and leaks. Standing seam hides the fasteners under a folded seam, so nothing penetrates the surface water crosses.
Why does on-site fabrication matter?
We bring the roll former to your property and make each panel in one continuous length from ridge to eave. Factory-ordered panels arrive in fixed lengths and have to be lapped horizontally part-way up the slope, and those laps are the most common long-term leak point on a metal roof.
How long will a metal roof last in Ontario?
40+ years for a properly installed 24 gauge standing seam system, and often considerably more. Asphalt shingles in the same Ontario climate realistically give 15-20 years, regardless of the number printed on the bundle. Repeated freeze-thaw and ice damming age them far faster than the lab conditions behind that rating.
Are metal roofs noisy when it rains?
No. That reputation comes from barn roofs, bare metal screwed to open purlins with nothing underneath. Over a solid deck with underlayment and attic insulation, a standing seam roof is comparable to asphalt. Rain reads as a soft wash rather than drumming.
Do you install over existing shingles?
Sometimes, and we will tell you honestly which case you are in. One layer of sound shingles over a flat, dry deck can be strapped over. Two or more layers, soft decking, or any sign of moisture means a tear-off. Covering a bad deck is the cheapest thing we could sell you and the fastest route to a callback.
How do I get a price?
Call and we will book a site visit or a drone survey. We do not quote roofs over the phone, roof area is not floor area, pitch changes everything, and nobody can assess a deck from a description. What you get back is a written specification with the number attached to it.
